Amazon is seeking an experienced Corporate Development Leader who will be responsible for generating, managing, and executing mergers and acquisitions, minority investments, and strategic partnership activities focusing on technology sectors to include Robotics, FinTech, and emerging consumer markets. This leader will be a business partner to senior leadership and will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon, including interaction with Amazon’s CEO and CFO. The selected candidate will be part of a small team responsible for originating, executing, and supporting acquisitions and other strategic initiatives. He or she will also be responsible for raising Amazon’s worldwide deal-making profile. This position can be based in Seattle or San Francisco.
Key Strategic Objectives: The selected candidate will act as a primary contact in supporting Amazon’s business units and senior leadership by conducting industry research, valuation analyses, due diligence, creation of strategic documents/recommendations, acquisition term sheets and contract negotiations, and both internal and external relationship building.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify appropriate opportunities which support Amazon’s strategic priorities through interaction with senior business leaders, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, investment bankers, and organic pipeline generationPartner with business units to evaluate and drive internal thinking on expansion opportunitiesEvaluate the benefits of potential acquisitions and innovate the process of building consensusAct as a subject matter expert on valuation and deal structuringLead all pre-transaction diligence effortsEvaluate opportunities and risks in potential transactionsWork with all cross-functional groups within Amazon to execute on the relationships from term sheet signature to proper integrationEstablish the ongoing processes, skill sets, and strategy that will enable Amazon to continue to build out our corporate development competency, in the face of a rapidly changing industry.In addition, this Corporate Development Leader will be an independent thinker who can make convincing, information-based arguments. The selected candidate will be able to work across all business units, demonstrating a strong bias for action.
